Perfect weather and perfect company: Sunday brought a hike at Castlewood with Tanner.
The trees seem to be thinking about bringing out their fall attire, but they're a little slow.
Although I have to say that this tree photo is one of my favorites that I've ever taken.
I'm not really sure why. I just love that tree. It's a storybook tree.
Although these vines were really putting on a show.
THIS was magical. The leaves looked like butterflies fluttering above us.
The photos just don't do it justice. It was a perfect gradient from yellow to orange to red.
A closer look.
I am proud to say that this turned into a photography hike and I was not the only one taking the photos.
The following photos were taken by Tanner. I added a filter or two, but he's responsible for the composition. I'm so proud of him! I'm also pleased to see that he has his mother's love of graffiti.
He also shares my appreciation for love in the details.
We closed today with a sit-down family dinner. What a concept!
We shopped. I cooked. We set the table. We said grace. We ate. We talked.
We had dessert and dirty dishes.
I'm so guilty of underestimating the value of this simple event.
We really need to do this more often.

Your dinner sounds fabulous! Great idea.
