It's a good thing he's cute.

After an entire night of Drew's coughs echoing throughout the house, all of our sleeping patterns are turned upside down. (Including Violet, who twisted and turned across the foot of my bed. My tossing landed poor Murphy on the floor several times.) Today I worked most of the day from home so I could keep an eye on Drew. I ran to the office, then to the store for chicken soup & juice, then came home to this. This is why I've had to replace every set of blinds on our front-facing windows with a view of the birds on the feeder.

(In case you are wondering why our window box is still filled with holiday cheer, it's because the stems and wires of its contents are frozen in the dirt. I've removed as much as I can, but for now, these are stuck.)

Conversation after I fixed Drew's lunch this afternoon:
Drew: "Mom, I think we need a new ice maker."
Me: "Why's that?"
Drew: "Because our cubes melt too fast."

Another "Drewism" has left me speechless. This one ranks up there with the time he asked us if we could name a movie title that begins with the word "Jaws." He's like a Matthew Lillard character, only cuter and on the honor roll.
